Gallery Opening

Jewelry making is possibly one of the most relaxing, enjoyable and frustrating activity one person can endure. And what have I been doing all of today? Exactly that. I'm going to be selling some of my clothing designs and jewelry soon at a gallery called "Cereal Box" opening in Flinder's Street Mall on the 25th of February. It's a wonderful gallery run by some fantastic people with incredible vision and drive to bring something different to Townsville.

So please, come along and see for yourself, and perhaps buy one of my designs? ;) It is located right next to the Commonwealth Bank and starts at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there!

PS. Here are some photos of the process of myself making some jewelry today, finished product photos will be coming tomorrow! So be sure to check then :)

Gold lace dress

What a busy bee I have been today. I woke up about 10ish and got stuck straight into sewing. I made a dress that was a little complicated, which required almost the entire day to finish! There are a few mistakes, however I am quite pleased with how it turned out and will certainly be wearing it soon! The lace is vintage, which I picked up for $2!! Your feedback is welcome.

Hope you like it!

AUSTRALIA DAY

Australia. The land of vegemite, mateship, loyalty, "it'll be right" mentalities, summer, beaches, surf culture and laid back attitudes. A place I am proud to call home. I wish a Happy Australia Day to all those Aussies in the world, I hope your soaking up the summer sun with a cold beer/drink in one hand, with a sanga (sausage in bread) in the other.

Here is the outfit I created and wore to celebrate the Australia Day festivities last night :)

Enjoy the rest of your day celebrating the greatest country in the world.

Vintage DIY Dress

Today has been a tremendously busy day. I've been shopping for fabric, second hand shopping, altering vintage finds and making my Australia Day outfit for the festivities tonight!

Here is a nice little find I came across in a second hand store today..it was actually a long maxi dress, but I trimmed it into a short cute summer dress! I also cut off the straps and replaced them with lace to make the dress more interesting. What do you think??

I also found some lovely vintage fabric for $5, which I plan to make some pretty dresses out of in the near future :) So look out!
For those in Australia, hope you have a lovely Australia day Eve, for those everywhere else, just have a lovely day!

Weekend at Mission Beach

If you have never been to Mission Beach, I recommend it. For the past three days, that is where I have been spending my time. Strolling down long beautiful beaches, sprinting from the beach to house in order to avoid torrential rain, and enjoying the cool weather. Weather that is so very unlike a North Queensland summer. It is the perfect place to escape from your current lifestyle and hometown.

Lately I've been searching through my favourite blogs for inspiration and I have come to the decision that I need to invest more time into making my blog better and more entertaining for you to read. Some fresh ideas can never go astray. The one thing I desperately need to work on is my writing. I study journalism at university, so writing of course is a major aspect of my course. Actually, the whole reason I started this blog in the first place is to have a place to escape and write. So, look forward to longer and more entertaining posts! Although the short post may occur occasionally, as time is of the essence.

Hope your weekend was wonderful and I shall leave you with some photos to look at from my trip :) These are photographed by me, with a few taken by my boyfriend (the ones of me). All are edited by yours truly.

Plenty for you to look at!

Yellow skirt - handmade

Another day off, another day filled with sewing :D Here is another skirt I have made to use the left over fabric that I created the dress from. I love all this free time that I have to improve my skills whilst doing something that I love. It feels good.

My inspiration for the clothes I make are pastels, girlishness, vintage, lace and the whimsical feeling. This is what I have in mind when I'm choosing fabrics and creating my clothes. I hope when one day other people are able to wear them that they get that feeling too and feel good in what I make.

Creative day

A day with a friend is always a pleasure. A day with a friend both doing something you love is something else. My friend Frances and I decided to take a trip to Spotlight to pick up some supplies in order for us to carry through our creative day. While Franny was looking for buttons and ribbons for her memo board, I was looking for material to create a new dress. Although I didn't make much today, I ended up doing a bit of sewing anyway, just fixing up a skirt that I made not long back. Here are some photos that Franny took today.
