Bring Me Some Leather

I guess you could say I've always been a bit of a leather fanatic. I'm pretty leather obsessed, so you can imagine my reaction when I come across this wonderful skirt I'm wearing...

Shrieks of delight would be the words to describe my reaction. I wore this to university on Monday, hence the rather large uni bag filled with everything. I bought this from Target in a rush on my way to uni one morning and was extremely happy with my $11 purchase!!

This skirt is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe and instantly dresses up simple t-shirts and tops. This one skirt can add so much interest to what could be an otherwise boring old black skirt.

The top I'm wearing is a mens shirt that I picked up from a second hand store. It was originally a short sleeved collared shirt, but I cut off the sleeves and collar. It's very rare that I will wear a muscle shirt, however I love that college/varsity look that I've been seeing on style blogs. So when I found this little gem I whipped out the scissors and worked my magic.

Lavender Me Up

I'm so obsessed with the colour lavender at the moment. It has a lovely feminine vibe and looks striking on, especially paired with a nude palette.

The colour lavender inspired this outfit post and I can't wait to get my hands on some more lavender pieces. I'm currently making some high waisted skirts to sell at Hunter for this Thursday, but perhaps I have time to make myself a little dress? Ah, if only there were two of me..or three. I could get so many projects completed.

These little ankle booties I'm wearing are my favourite at the moment. They look so chic on and I'll find any excuse to wear them. I also pretty much wear that necklace to death, seriously, I'm in love with it.

One Whimsical Tale

I'm not usually a baby pink kind of person. This dress however, was an exception. It's whimsical, feminine and fantasy like all at the same time.

I fell in love with it as soon as I saw the photo of it for sale. Where did I see it? On a lovely blog called Lauren May Vintage. Lauren is based in Sydney and aims to spread her love of vintage by handpicking good quality, unique garments to sell to vintage lovers like myself!

Here are a few little shots I took of this gorgeous dress that I can't seem to want to take off..

Red Aztec

Do you ever get that overwhelming feeling when something catches your eye that you must have it? I blame this very feeling on the reason my bank account continues to dwindle down.

As soon as I saw this dress, I instantly fantasized about what I would wear it with, when I would wear it and just generally how cute it would look on. After an intense bidding war on ebay and boy, was my adrenalin PUMPING! Thankfully, my competitive streak came through and I was the happy winner of this beautiful dress.

I love statement dresses that speak for themselves. Then all you have to do it pair it with some cute flats and wah-lah! Outfit done. This is why I practically live in dresses. I'm quite the lazy dresser, to me a dress is a completed outfit without the fuss. An outfit where you don't have to think of what top will go with what, or what belt will match this, ect, ect.

All images edited by me.

Boatneck Collar? I think so!

There's something about loose floaty dresses that gets me every time. This dress was no exception. I like clothes with silky fabric that fall beautifully once their on. I like the kind of fabric that skims over your body and flows seamlessly with a sudden gust of wind.

When I saw this dress in the vintage store, it was originally one of those long grandma looking dresses, but once I tried it on I could see the potential it had. With a quick use of some scissors and sewing machine I hemmed it to resemble a retro 60's mini dress.

I'm not usually a fan of boatneck collars as I think they sit strange. However, I couldn't resist the retro feel it possessed paired with the geometric print. I wore this dress to university the other day and teamed it with some simple gladiator flats and a vintage Gucci belt I found in an op shop.

A Catch-Up

There's a few things I'd like to catch you up to speed with. Remember when I mentioned that a talented group of university students were creating a designer film for me?

Well here it is:

Models: Jessica Feaver & Daniel Lazzaroni

I am beyond happy with how it turned out. The film encapsulates the tone of my clothes perfectly. Hours and hours of work went into producing this film and I have Aleena Bridge, Emily Clarke, Kurt Fong, Ashley Sorensen and Kaye Crompton to thank for a film for my debut collection that I can keep forever.

Not many designers that are just starting out can say that they have that. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones and blessed to have such talented people wanting to collaborate with me.

There is something else I haven't shown you either, here is the display I created at Hunter, the shop I sell my designs at. I'm hoping in the future to expand online and really create a brand for myself, such exciting times ahead!

If you'd like to see more beautiful shots taken from the night of the Fashion Show, where I launched my label. Here is some photographs taken by Aleena, see more on her blog here. Be sure to check it out, her talent is an inspiration.

Suprised by my frequent blogging? I'm feeling inspired and back with a bang ;)

Embrace the Green

This Spring, I plan to embrace the colour green. I've become quite infatuated with this wonderful vibrant colour. My old high school uniform used to be green and I guess thats the reason that the colour green and I fell out of love for so many years (who liked high school!?).

However, we are back in touch luckily, because I came across this little number and couldn't take my eyes off it. The retro feel of this 60s mini dress is what attracted me to it at first as well as the classic vest shape. I paired it with tan accessories to tone down the vibrant colour of this dress.

Sometimes when I'm choosing an outfit for the day, I can feel this inner retro wanting to force its way out. I guess it comes from watching my mother dress when I was child as her style was quite retro and on trend for her era.

I attribute my love of vintage to my mother as well, for getting me into second hand shopping at such a young age. I grew to love what others considered trash and I'm still heavily influenced by vintage and second hand wonders from local thrift stores.
